Change Can Be Daunting… even when we choose it

About five years ago my husband Dennis and I put in a patio in our backyard. It was part of our get rid of all the grass project. We are very proud of it since we designed it and it’s made mostly of recycled bricks and stones that we collected ourselves. It’s on the large side: about 25 feet long by 13 feet wide. For those reading this who live in Seattle, you know what happens over time to bricks.

Change is Risky, and...

I had planned on writing on a regular basis about all that’s happening around Centerpoint and our big transitions. But I notice that my last blog entry was over a month ago. Just another thing to learn about big changes…they are a bit scary to even write about sometimes. Also, they keep you really, really busy!  [Read More]

Change is Exciting... Really!

Change is exciting—at least it is for me right now! If you’ve come within twenty feet of me recently you will have heard me going on and on about the big changes happening at Centerpoint. If you haven’t been around of late, then please read on so I can fill you in too!  [Read More]

Changes and Transitions

If you haven’t noticed by now, Centerpoint specializes in helping people navigate the changes and transitions in their lives. But just because we know how to help others with that, doesn’t mean we’re always great at doing it ourselves.  [Read More]

Transitions All Around!

These are exciting times for CP, its board, staff and faculty, and for all CP members. As an organization that helps people and companies negotiate change, we like to walk our talk, and while we are walking, oh how we wish we were running (more about this later)!

January 31st was my last day as President of the Board for Centerpoint (CP). I have been on the CP Board for six years, and President for three. It’s time for new energy and new ideas. Personally, I’m going to take a few months off after April, and then hopefully I’ll return to CP to work with clients on money challenges.  [Read More]

New Year's Resolutions

There’s an anonymous quote that always makes me chuckle at this time of year: “A New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one Year and out the other.”

I find it easy to set out some good intentions but then don’t always follow through.  [Read More]

Sitting in Winter

Right now, I am in my childhood home in Wisconsin, on a vacation of sorts. It’s not your “fun-in-the-sun” vacation, full of relaxation and ease. I’m here, sitting in ten degree weather with 16 inches of snow, to work on my relationship with my husband.

Our three-year wedding anniversary is next week, and yet, right now you could say we are separated. I don’t have an answer right now as to whether or not we will ultimately be able to make it work, which is sad for me. Sometimes I think it might be easier if I just call it quits and try and move on, but I can’t yet.  [Read More]

Working for the Right Fit

Today, I decided to take matters in to my own hands. I bought a radiant heater, vitamins & Emergen-C.

Unfortunately, I have been sick for about a month now. First, I had some sort of respiratory virus with a cough that hung on for a few weeks. Now, I am battling some sort of cold. Prior to that, I sprained my ankle. The last couple months have been full of annoying, physical impediments to surmount.   [Read More]

Digging deeper

Digging deeper into what I need to change can be confusing and frustrating.

I sometimes just want answers or possible solutions, thinking “please someone TELL me what I need to do in order to change.” In fact what I must do is to find ways to look deeper into my soul and figure out what needs to be healed and what is asking for help. It takes courage and support in order to go in to those areas I have hidden away from myself in order to feel safe. Each time I am able to go there, I have found out that I am able to look at the old messages or beliefs that are no longer true for me.   [Read More]

What Is Work?

Work has been, for most of us, a Monday–to–Friday, eight–hour–a–day thing. Nevertheless, many people—myself included—piece together a few jobs in order to find fulfillment and to make ends meet. I work part–time at Centerpoint and I have a private counseling practice. Before now, most of my jobs have been a regular nine–to–five gig.  [Read More]
